Connecting Startups And Investors, Bitcoin 2023 Pitch Day Will Propel The Industry

This is a promoted article provided by the Bitcoin 2023 conference. Bitcoin 2023 and Bitcoin Magazine are both operated by BTC Inc.

The Bitcoin 2023 conference is set to host another edition of Pitch Day, a competition between the most promising startups in Bitcoin putting their products to the test with a live pitch and back and forth in front of the top venture investors in the world.

The competition will take place as part of Bitcoin 2023’s Industry Day on May 18, featuring 14 teams in various stages of funding, ranging from pre-seed to Series A, and focused on a wide range of new Bitcoin applications, from the Bitcoin infrastructure to Layer 2 technology products. Startups have until March 31 to apply to compete and can do so here.

In anticipation of this year’s competition, we caught up with a few of last year’s participants to check in on their progress.

Alby, represented by co-founder Moritz Kaminski, was the winner of the Lightning section at Bitcoin 2022’s Pitch Day. Alby is a Bitcoin Lightning app with in-browser payments and identity. The team has since launched tools for Podcasting 2.0 and for interacting with Nostr and Ordinals.

Moon Mortgage, represented by founders Aaron Nevin and Tristin Marino, was a competitor in the infrastructure section, launching a crypto-backed mortgage product. The team has since raised a $3.5 million seed round led by Cadenza Ventures and CoinFund.

Alby and Moon Mortgage are only two examples of the Bitcoin companies that are currently excelling as adoption of this technology increases. Growth of the Bitcoin ecosystem over the past year, underscored by projects like Ordinals and other new Layer 2 developments, has coincided with a strengthening of the Bitcoin-only venture ecosystem, making it an especially exciting time to be building and onboarding new users onto Bitcoin. Pitch Day attendees will have a front row seat to the newest generation of such companies.

Industry Day is open to conference attendees who hold an Industry Day pass or a Whale pass. The panel of judges is set to feature Tyler Evans of the Bitcoin Magazine Ecosystem Fund, Abubakar Nur Khalil of Recursive Capital, Max Webster of Hivemind Ventures, Kelly Brewster of Wolf and Brian Fixon of Off The Chain Capital, who will hear pitches from the competitors and react in real time before joining a live panel on stage to make their selections for first and second place.

If you are an investor interested in early stage Bitcoin startups, you can register to receive more information about the competition here.
