Crypto Hedge Fund Arca Loses VP of Portfolio Management

Hassan Bassiri, the vice president of portfolio management at crypto hedge fund Arca, has left the firm. His profile is absent from Arca’s team page and a source close to the company confirmed his exit to CoinDesk.

The timing and reason for Bassiri’s departure weren’t disclosed. Before joining Arca, he spent a decade at Big Four accounting firm KPMG on the M&A team, including a stint as a decentralized finance (DeFi) analyst.

Bassiri’s exit comes several months after the Arca Digital Yield Fund – which he co-managed along with Arca CIO Jeff Dorman – was shuttered. The Digital Yield Fund opened for business in the summer of 2021, but exposure to Terra’s stablecoin and the fallout from that collapse led to the fund’s closing in August of 2022.

Arca manages three other investment vehicles: the flagship Digital Assets Fund that invests in crypto company tokens, the venture capital-focused Arca Endeavor Fund and a non-fungible token (NFT) fund.
