The Sandbox is an Ethereum-based virtual gaming system that allows the creators and players to design digital assets, play games, and monetize them without any central authority. The platform mainly consists of three different applications called VoxEdit, Game Maker, and Marketplace that altogether offer a complete ecosystem to launch a virtual gaming world.
Users can use VoxEdit to create ASSETS, and these assets can be used to play virtual games. They can also upload and sell these assets in The Sandbox marketplace.
SAND is the native token of the platform and has multiple utilities inside The Sandbox ecosystem.
In this guide, we will walk through The Sandbox platform and see how users can create an account, get a SAND token, and other things.

SAND is the native token of The Sandbox platform, and it is required to do almost all activities within the ecosystem. Users need to hold SAND in their wallets to create assets or to play games. You can get the SAND token from Binance, Uniswap, or Simplex.
How to Get the SAND Token
You can get the SAND token from Uniswap.
Go to Uniswap and connect your MetaMask wallet.
Double-check the token contract address. You can get the token address from Coingecko.
As you can see from the below snapshot, we are swapping some ETH with SAND tokens. Enter the amount of tokens that you wish to buy and confirm the Swap activity.
A MetaMask transaction is triggered. Once the transaction is successful, you can see the SAND token in your wallet.
You can check your assets details from the Inventory tab. It lists the details of assets, land, estates, etc. that a user is holding.
Catalyst and Gems
Catalyst and Gems are the ERC-20 tokens that are used to define and add an extra factor to make the ASSETS more valuable. Catalysts add to an asset’s tier and scarcity that will be displayed on the Marketplace, and Gems add attributes to the ASSETS.
The Market is the NFT marketplace that offers the artists and creators a platform which they can use to monetize their creations. Users can buy ASSETS and then use them to decorate or accessorize their LAND. Note that the marketplace assets can be bought using only SAND tokens.
The SandBox’s NFT marketplace beta version went live on March 30, 2021. Platform users can get access to 100+ launch NFTs from 46 different artists.
To purchase any NFT’s, go to Market.
Users can filter the assets based on NFT type, behavior, slot, catalyst tier, gem attributes, size, etc. The asset price is determined by the type of attributes it holds. The greater the number of attributes, the higher the price.
Once you have finalized the NFT that you wish to buy, click on the Buy button.
You can set the number of copies that you want and then confirm the transaction. Once the transaction is successful, you can check your NFTs in the inventory.
Users can download Game Maker and create 3D games without any cost or technical knowledge. Game Maker allows the users to build a game by using thousands of voxel models (NFTs) made by the community with VoxEdit.
Below are the recommended system requirements for launching the Game Maker application.
The map lists the entire landscape of The Sandbox Metaverse.
LANDs are the physical spaces in The Sandbox Metaverse that players can own and use in a game. Players can play games on their LAND, or they can rent it to other players. The SandBox Metaverse consists of a total of 166,464 LANDS.
The Sandbox map consists of two different types of virtual real estate – namely LAND and ESTATE. They can be purchased using only SAND tokens.
The Sandbox is hosting a LAND sale in phases. Currently, there is no land sale but the project is planning to bring the next land sale very soon.
Like any other assets, you can check your LAND details from the inventory.
Click on View in Map, and you can see your LAND in The Sandbox Metaverse.
When you select any LAND or ESTATE, it will give you information about its location, size, blocks included, and price.
The global gaming industry is the most exciting industry today in terms of both technology and monetary value. In 2020, the global gaming market (traditional) was valued at $162.32 billion and is expected to reach a value of $295.63 billion by 2026. Inspired by these high figures and worldwide craziness behind games, many blockchain-based gaming companies came into existence. We can see a sudden spike in the number of blockchain-based gaming projects. As opposed to a traditional gaming system that focuses on technology and software upgrades, blockchain gaming projects are working hard on empowering players. The Sandbox is one such touted and anticipated game. User can create their ASSETS and game without any technical knowledge. They will be valued and named for their creation due to the assets being an NFT. Later, they can monetize their assets by listing them in the marketplace. There is no doubt that the game will definitely catch a lot of interest once it goes live.
