Blockchain industry has 17 billionaires, predominantly generated by crypto exchanges as Coinbase, FTX and Binance

  • This year is a significant year for the net addition of new crypto billionaires, led by Brian Armstrong, founder of Coinbase.

Shanghai-based researchers at Hurun have prepared a new “Global Rich List 2021” that has not forgotten the crypto billionaires.

According to this report, there has been a net increase this year of 17 crypto billionaires, who owe their wealth mainly to the establishment and ownership of crypto exchanges, hold or mine cryptocurrencies or are part of the ecosystem.

The first three places were sovereignly occupied by the owners of crypto exchanges dominated by Brian Armstrong from Coinbase with $ 11.5Bn. Second place went to Sam Bankman-Fried of FTX with $ 10Bn and third place went to Zhao Changpeng from Binance, whose net worth is $ 8Bn.

As for the most billionaires in one crypto company, the Winklevoss brothers from Gemini were overtaken by the founders of Ripple, who took 4th, 5th and 16th place.

However, Huron analysts have not forgotten Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, who would be the richest crypto entrepreneur if his identity were known with an estimate of $ 50 Bn. Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, was also not included in the list because his possession and assets in the cryptocurrency are not clear.
